The Republic of San Marino presents the exhibition Architect Michelangelo. The drawings of Casa Buonarroti, which will be open at Palazzo SUMS from 22 December 2022 to 14 May 2023. The exhibition allows to retrace the creative process of Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564) in one of the fields that most distinguished his artistic activity, namely architecture.
Thanks to the most important collection in the world dedicated specifically to this subject – that is the set of 130 autograph sheets preserved at Casa Buonarroti in Florence – visitors will admire a selection of drawings of great architectural works personally signed by Michelangelo, thus retracing the periods when the artist dedicated himself to architecture.
The exhibition, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of San Marino, produced and organised by the MetaMorfosi Association in collaboration with the Casa Buonarroti Foundation and with the support of Cassa di Risparmio di San Marino, is curated by the director of the Casa Buonarroti Foundation, Alessandro Cecchi.
